The Juneau-Douglas High School football team is accepting applications for qualified position coaches for its 2016 season.
Head coach Kevin Hamrick is looking for experienced coaches and positive role models to lead his running backs, wide receivers, defensive line and linebackers. Coaches would need to commit 2-3 hours a night from 5-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and during Saturday night games. The JDHS football season starts July 27.
“I’m reaching out to guys who may be sitting around with a lot of coaching experience and talent who will be positive role models and bring knowledge to our program,” Hamrick said. “I’m looking to fill a staff of people who can make practice consistently and really enjoy life and football.”
Previous experience coaching or playing at the college level is a plus, Hamrick added, but anybody with previous experience at the high school level will be considered. Coaches are also required to pass a background check.
For Hamrick, helping to raise young men on the football field has been nothing short of an honor.
“I coach because as a kid growing up without a dad I was very lucky to have best friends whose dads coached us year-round in track, wrestling and football. I really looked up to those role models and want to pay it forward. They taught me to never give up, always stay positive.”
