The Juneau-Douglas girls basketball team lost on Thursday afternoon in the Dimond Lady Lynx Prep Shootout.
JDHS fell behind by eight points in the first half in a 57-40 loss to Colony High at Dimond High School. It was the second of four days of tournament basketball at the home of the reigning state champion Lady Lynx. Three of the 16 teams participating in the tournament hail from Southeast, including JDHS, Thunder Mountain and Ketchikan.
JDHS senior Caitlin Pusich scored 15 points and senior Alyxn Bohulano added eight in the loss. Colony, who led 37-29 to start the fourth quarter, received contributions from Chloe Simpson (11 points), Abby Kenley (11 points), Hannah Duguid (eight points) and Kali Bull (eight points).
JDHS will face the loser of the Thursday afternoon game between Thunder Mountain and South Anchorage.
JDHS lost to West Valley 71-45 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, TMHS fell to Anchorage Christian Schools 66-44. These games, as well as six others, were used to create the two-bracket tournament format. Wednesday’s winners qualified for the Gold Bracket while JDHS, TMHS and the other six losing sides formed the Maroon Bracket.
