The Juneau-Douglas High School basketball team found its offensive groove on Friday, with four players scoring in the double digits during a 54-49 win against Mt. Edgecumbe High School on the road.
Caitlyn Pusich led JDHS with 15 points, followed by Cristina Arehart with 13, and Tona Fogg and Alyxn Bohulano had 10 each.
Mt. Edgecumbe’s Payton Weisz led all scorers with 18 points.
The Crimson Bears fell behind early, 11-12 after the first quarter but battled back scoring 16 second-quarter points to enter the locker room up 27-22.
Scoring was near even for both teams during the third, with JDHS still up 39-34.
Weisz scored nine of her 18 points in the fourth, two of those shots coming from long range, but the Crimson Bears were able to score four field goals, one from long range, and made 7-of-13 from the free throw line to seal the victory.
JDHS made 18-of-32 free throws on the night. Mt. Edgecumbe shot 13-of-15 from the line.
