JTRR race canceled
Juneau Trail and Road Runners has canceled their Saturday race to let runners recoup from the Klondike Trail of ‘98 International Road Relay. JTRR’s John Kern cited a “number of reasons” not to run the event.
In a club email update sent Thursday, Kern encouraged runners to volunteer for running events in the future. Kern wrote that they do need more volunteers for JTRR events, especially in the areas of timing and managing equipment.
He wrote that the club is doing great financially but could use more help staffing events.
“We have great people involved in the organization,” Kern stated. “We could use some more depth in volunteers and I have race directors that would be happy to pass on their run to another volunteer.
Registration is now open for JTRR’s Healing Hand Foundation 5k run and 1-mile walk on Oct. 7 at 9 a.m. at Twin Lakes.
