The Juneau Post 25 and Juneau Junior All-Stars’ respective postseasons will be on the line in the coming days at state and regional tournament action.
Juneau Post 25, the capital city’s American Legion baseball team, begins the American Legion Alaska State Tournament Friday.
Juneau (15-3), who nabbed the second seed after finishing with the second-best league record, plays No. 7 West Post 1 (11-7) at 3:15 p.m at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.
The other teams that made the cut for the state tournament include: No. 1 Wasilla (16-2), No. 3 Chugiak (14-4), No. 4 Kenai (13-5), No. 5 South (13-5), No. 6 Palmer (12-6) and No. 8 Dimond (9-9). The Legion state tournament will be livestreamed at meridix.com/channel/?liveid=thealliance#/.
The Juneau Junior All-Stars were the only Gastineau Channel Little League team to make it out of the district and state tournaments. They now play in the Junior Baseball West Regional Tournament in San Jose, California. First up on the schedule for Juneau is San Jose, the host team, on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of the regional will advance to the Little League World Series.
