Home, 10 a.m., Juneau’s 1st Annual PolioPlus 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run (not Empire Cup Series race) at Riverbend Elementary School covered playground. Tickets $20 adults, $10 students. Tickets and donations got to Rotary Foundations PolioPlus fund and will be matched 2-to-1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

 

Sunday, October 25

RUNNING

Home, 2:30 p.m., 4th Annual Zombie Run 5K or 1-mile at Sandy Beach. Empire Cup Series race. Preregister by Oct. 23 $15 adults, $10 kids. Race day registration $25 adult, $15 kids. Register at Pavitts Health and Fitness, Nugget Alaskan Outfitters, Fogggy Mountain Shop or Harborview Elementary School. Race is fundraiser for the Harborview Elementary Triathlon Club. Discussion of rules & mechanics as preparation for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) certification exam. All interested in officiating are encouraged to attend. For more information call Joel Osburn 209-7897. Time to put the Marvelous Mystery Oil on whistles and dust off the zebra stripes. High school basketball officials are in demand this season.

Home, The HoopTime Basketball Program is taking registration for players in 4th-8th grades. The 2016 HoopTime season starts January 2. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration deadline is Dec. 13. Late registration will be accepted only if room is available with a $25 late fee.
