Saturday’s Ben Blackgoat Memorial Race turned out 68 people in a downpour on Perseverance Trail. Course options were for 2, 4 and 7 mile distances.
Race proceeds benefit the Ben Blackgoat Memorial Scholarship, which the Southeast Road Runners award every year to high school winner of an essay contest.
Ben Blackgoat, a former Juneau-Douglas High School track and cross country standout, passed away on Thanksgiving Eve 1996 while running on Perseverance Trail.
