The Palmer High School girls basketball team took control in the second half of Thursday’s game against Thunder Mountain High School.
Palmer had a one-point lead heading into halftime, 22-21, but then outscored the Falcons 31-20 in the second half for the 53-41 victory in Palmer.
Ava Tompkins again led TMHS (1-3) in scoring with a game-high 14 points. Nina Fenumiai added 10, Alondra Echiverri had five, Siniva Maka scored four, and Cyrene Uddipa, Maya Hayward, Haleigh DiCarlo and Harriet Martin contributed two each.
Adrianne Busbey led Palmer with 13 points, followed by Kiana Till and Carly Venzke with eight each.
TMHS made 17 field goals and made 7-of-16 from the free throw line, with Palmer making 16 field goals, one 3-pointer, and shooting 16-of-25 from the free throw line.
