Juneau-Douglas High School senior Kasey Watts is the Juneau Empire player of the week.
Over the weekend, Watts and the JDHS baseball team swept the defending state champions, Sitka, on the road.
Watts guided the Crimson Bears to a 6-0 win on Friday, pitching a complete game, allowing two hits while striking out 12 batters. Watts also hit a solo home run.
In the following game on Saturday, a 3-2 win, Watts hit a three-run home run to give JDHS their first lead of the game.
JDHS and Sitka play one another again on Thursday in the first round of the Region V baseball tournament.
