The Juneau All-Stars won the Minors Special Games Tournament on Thursday night at Melvin Park.
The team composed of 8-, 9- and 10-year-old girls reeled off three straight wins over Ketchikan in the best-of-five- game series in dominant fashion, posting 11-1, 27-19 and 15-5 victories.
“It was a total team effort, everybody was hitting pretty well,” Juneau coach Phil Wheeler said. “When they were hitting, they were all hitting.”

Juneau led the entire tournament except for two brief intervals in the second and third games. Ketchikan held a 2-0 lead midway through the first inning of the second game, and 1-0 advantage midway through the first frame of the third game.
“Pretty young team, but we had all the heart in the world,” Wheeler said. “Same with Ketchikan, they were a very young team also.”
Gwen Nizich and Peyton Wheeler shared pitching duties for Juneau. Nizich pitched a complete game in the first game, and the two teamed up in the second and third games.
