The Juneau Soccer Club is bringing TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer), a training program for young athletes with disabilities, to Juneau for the 2016 season. JSC will host a Buddy Training Clinic from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 12, with a player clinic following from 1-2 p.m. at the Dimond Park Fieldhouse.
TOPSoccer’s buddy training prepares volunteers to work with players with disabilities. The “buddy” will work with the athlete and lead TOPSoccer coach on the field to help guide the player physically, if necessary, to help ensure a safe and fun experience for the player.
TOPSoccer’s players clinic is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl who has mental or physical disabilities.
Interested parties for either clinic should contact Juneau Soccer Club director of coaching Matt Dusenberry at 957-2087.
Alaska Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer chairman Robert DeVassie will be in Juneau to lead the clinic.
