Both of Juneau’s prep swim and dive squads head to Ketchikan for the capstone of the regular season swim schedules at this weekend’s Region V swim meet. Region winners in 12 events will qualify for the state meet Nov. 4-5 in Juneau. Outside of region winners, those with posting one of the 16 best times in the state for individual events will qualify for the state meet.
Juneau-Douglas High School’s squad boasts four state-leading times, including current top marks in the girls 200-yard medley relay, girls 200 individual medley (held by Mia Ruffin), girls 100 butterfly (Ruffin) and girls 400 freestyle relay. Ruffin also holds the state’s second-best times in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke.
Thunder Mountain’s Bergen Davis holds his team’s only state-leading mark with his 1:56.82 in the boys 200 individual medley. Davis also holds the state’s second best boys 100 breaststroke time.
